Congratulations to all Monarchs for a job well done. It is official now. We were notified on Thursday, March 29^th by State Superintendent Tom Torlakson about our great news. We are so excited to celebrate our success. This title lasts for the next four years. Mariposa is being recognized by the business community of California for our outstanding success in raising student academic achievement. After an extensive analysis of student achievement data for every public school in California, our school was one that stood well above the rest in getting our students to grade level proficiency and beyond. It is for this reason we have been named a California Business of Education Excellence Honor Roll School!  Thank you to our entire community for supporting the stellar education of our children.

Registration of children who will be eligible to enter kindergarten in September, 2012 has begun and will continue until the end of the school year in June.  The hours for registration at Mariposa are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Click HERE for information on required documents, immunizations, and health screening.

In lieu of summer school, the Brea Olinda Unified School District allows us to provide intervention classes throughout the school year. Housing these classes at our children's home school, with teachers they know makes all of the difference. We are fortunate to have many teachers committed to reteaching state standards and foundational concepts to our at-risk students.

We would like to thank the following Mariposa teachers who provided this helpful intervention to our students: Mrs. Bithell, Mrs. Chavez, Mrs. Maurer, Mrs.Yocum, Ms. Kuhnlein, Mrs. Thomas, and Mrs. Hathaway. You rock! And, we thank you for making time in your after school schedule to help our students.

Our research on the SISP Intervention program for the past three years has shown evidence that over half of the students who participate in this intervention test too high the following year to need it again. Those statistics excite us about the intervention program, and we are grateful to these skilled educators for helping our students progress.
 

At Mariposa, we've had Study Island for English Language Arts in the areas of reading, writing and grammar for the past two years. This year, we are happy to be adding Study Island Science for our 4th and 5th grade students. Both of our programs are web-based and your child can access this supplemental technology from home as well. Let's get back to the Island!
